Sweet Notes from Mary
2012, wow who would have ever dreamed! I remember when I was young, back in the 1900’s, I thought that 2012 was only possible in the movies. I sure had a lot to learn. This year has brought some big changes for our bakery family. Baker Charlie retired in July. His full time job is now “The Granny Nanny”. He is the caretaker for Grandma, who is doing really well. She just celebrated her 94th birthday. We have much to be thankful for. Josie lost her Father in 2011 but was blessed with a new granddaughter. And we all lost a good friend Debbie Gajda. Debbie worked for us and was a wonderful lady. My BFF, Joy moved to Texas and my long time friend, Joyce passed away. I felt and feel a great loss. We are looking towards the 2012. A new granddaughter is scheduled to arrive this spring for Ann and a baby for Teresa & Matt in May.

Thank you to all my wonderful friends and customers. It is because of you that we are able to still be a part of this great city and community. Together, with God’s help, we can make the next year prosperous, healthy and exciting.

Each of us experiences clouds in our lives, some slight, but sometimes dark and frightening. In this trying times, take time to stop and smell the muffins. Enjoy today with friends, good food, family and God.

Have a sweet day.

Bakery Tours
We do bakery tours for kids from 3 to 90 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Our future bakers have a lesson on cake decorating and than decorate a cake to take home. We have had some real masterpieces created at our bakery. Rainbows, volcanoes, and fields of beautiful flowers are just some of our past creations. Tours cost $7 per child. Each tour lasts about one hour and must be pre-booked.
Partners
Mary Denning’s Cake Shoppe has partnered up with the new owners of the Vintage Market located on Ann Arbor Trail and Middlebelt in Westland. Patrons will be able to order Mary Denning wedding and birthday cakes through the Vintage Market. We are hoping that this will add some convenience to the cake ordering process.
HOME COOKED & READY
Our Copper-Country Style Pasties and Chicken Pot pies are always ready for you to take home for an easy home cooked meal. Did you know that pasties came over from England originally? (Grandma Margaret always said the Finns made them better). Brought over to the Upper Peninsula, the miners found that this was a great hot lunch. The wives would cut up potatoes, carrots, onions and beef, wrap them in a pastry crust and bake the pasties in the morning. By wrapping them in newspaper, pasties would make a warm lunch in the cold dark mines. Our pasties are my mother’s recipe and are made from scratch here in the bakery. Coupons.

Our dollar dessert menu enables you to take control of your sweet tooth and your wallet!

Try our chicken pot pies or pasties. Call us an at least an hour before and he will bake them for you! You can pick them up hot and ready for lunch or dinner! Baker Charlie cooks up his Copper Country Style Pasties.  These are my mother' recipe. Made with ground sirloin, potatoes, rutabaga, onions and carrots. We can also ship them.
